Space information is the foundation of a CAFM system.  Once space information is created you can assign room functions, departments and employees, in order to generate rentable/usable ratios and space chargeback reports. You can even go to the level of tracking room finishes and shared spaces.

The FMDepartment.com database links to your AutoCAD drawings to collect accurate space information.  By launching FMDepartment.com from inside AutoCAD or AutoCAD LT any changes that take place in the drawings automatically updates related database information.  FMDepartment.com also adds data editing commands and architectural drafting commands to AutoCAD, turning generic CAD software into facilities design software.

FMDepartment.com does not import CAD files; they stay in their native .DWG file format on your computer so you can continue to share drawings with architects and outsourcing companies. In addition, it’s easy to set up FMDepartment.com to work with your current layer list and symbols library, so you’re up and running quickly.
